Corona Virus Update
June 2020 Update
Grace and Peace from our Lord Jesus!
Thank you all so much for your participation in our online worship these last few months on Facebook Live and YouTube. Your contributions and interactions have been life giving. Also, thank you for responding to our online survey in order to assist our congregation in its return to worshiping together in our sanctuary. As we prepare for an initial phase of being in the physical space together, we wanted to share this information with you.
We are planning on re-entering the physical space at DUMC on June 7. This date follows recommendations from our Bishop, as well as our Governor. We will still provide a Facebook Live and YouTube online worship service, as well as 100.3 FM Radio in the parking lot. Because we will be limited to fewer people in the space, we ask that you please sign up for one of THREE worship times (9am, 10am, 11am) if you plan on attending. You can use the sign up genius link, https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A044AADA729A6FD0-dumc or you may call or email the office. Also, please email us if you are able to serve in upcoming weeks by assisting people with seating, cleaning between services, or handing out masks. (firstname.lastname@example.org, 228-255-6888, email@example.com).
The church building will be professionally cleaned and fogged for COVID-19 prior to our return and will be sanitized in between worship times. We will be implementing some modifications and protocol for our re-entry in order to mitigate risk and, to the best of our ability, ensure everyone’s safety. We ask that you follow these W’s for Worship:
WAIT – If you are sick, have a cough, or a temperature, please stay home and worship online. If you are among those (or frequently around those) who are considered ‘high risk’ due to age or a pre-existing condition, please stay home and worship online for a while longer.
WALK – Walking a little slower can help us maintain responsible social distancing. Our Leadership team will assist us in maintaining social distance.
WEAR – For now we will ALL be wearing a mask. You are welcome to bring your own, and we will have masks available for you to wear as you enter.
WASH – We will wash our hands. Hand sanitizer will be provided for you at entry and exit.
WAVE – Please greet one another with a smile and a wave as we will not be shaking hands, or hugging for a bit.
WORSHIP – Our worship service will be somewhat abbreviated. For now, we will not open the nursery or have coffee/snacks and our seating arrangements will be modified a bit. We will not pass the offering plates, meet in classes/groups, or sing congregationally just yet, but we will worship, pray, and hear the word of the Lord together.
These adjustments are temporary, and will relax some during phase two. As things change we will let you know more information. Thank you for your prayers and support of DUMC.
Your Servants in Christ,
DUMC Administrative Council and Staff
March 2020 Update
Grace and Peace to you! I have a lot of information I want to share with you, but I know that longer posts and letter sometimes get skipped. Here is the summary of info first. We will follow the guidelines of the CDC as they change in response to the spread or decline of the Covid-19 virus in our area. Currently they discourage groups larger than 10 from gathering. Keep reading to learn more. God bless you for your faithfulness to the mission!
- How we will worship together online.
- How we can still be disciples who make disciples
- How we can help to take care of and serve one another
- How we can financially support the ministries of The Bridge
We will not be hosting worship in our church’s facility until further notice. We will host online worship through Facebook livestream at our regular times of 9a.m. & 11a.m. central time. Musicians will perform live every Sunday and Cliff will deliver a new sermon every Sunday continuing our series “Growing up in Christ” from Ephesians. Each week’s sermon will continue to be saved to the Facebook page and uploaded to our YouTube account via our website. For those who don’t have Facebook or would still like to gather, we are going to attempt to broadcast on an FM station to our parking lot at regular worship times. Simply drive in and park and tune in via the FM station given. Drive-In Church!!!

We have about a number of small groups and study groups that you all are involved in, which is amazing! Discipleship is our way of life. Your leaders are developing a plan for you to be together in a way that is best for your group. Please be attentive to their communication. Now is a great time to get comfortable with apps on your phone like GroupMe and Zoom. Groups can also read bible plans together using YouVersion/The Bible app. Don’t be disconnected just because you are staying home. Let’s be intentional about Worship + 2.
